Saudade for a Seventh Plane
2022. Sound, 4:43 min. / Video, color, sound, 4:43 min.
Saudade for a Seventh Plane is a chorus that incorporates four audio clips: a mix of two songs played at Tejo bar in Lisbon, Portugal on the evening of February 20, 2017; the sounds of waves that I captured at Boca do Inferno in Cascais, Portugal; and, as an undercurrent running throughout the piece, the hum of seven fish choruses off the coast of Port Hedland in Western Australia, recorded by Robert McCauley and colleagues at Curtin University in Perth.
